Flats For Rent In Catford

Hunting for flats to rent in Catford?

As a priority for regeneration, Catford is on its way up and is likely to significantly change over the next few years. It is one of the last places in London which is still reasonably priced.

Its unusual name derives from the place where cattle crossed the River Ravensbourne in Saxon times. However, it’s also been linked to black cats which were thrown into the ford during witch hunts so our feline friends could have influenced the name after all.

Until 1889, Catford was in Kent but is now part of Greater London and Lewisham borough. Its most prominent landmark is the ‘Catford Cat’- a giant statue of a black cat above the entrance to the Catford Shopping Centre.

Karl Marx was reported to be a regular at Catford’s oldest pub, the Black Horse and Harrow, while other notable locals included Spike Milligan, Ben Elton, Cat Stevens and Sir Henry Cooper.
